IT professionals face more compliance regulations

Senior IT professionals across the UK are finding it even more challenging to cut costs due to the increasing amount of compliance regulations that are being sanctioned at government and EU level.
Many companies are looking to trim their budgets significantly, but this is becoming far more difficult because of new rules relating to data security.
While this may be bad news for organisations, it could actually be a blessing in disguise for the IT recruitment industry, as firms are being forced to draft in IT experts who have the necessary expertise to ensure an enterprise's computer systems are secure.
Chief security architect at Tufin Technologies Michael Hamelin said many chief information officers are facing a juggling act thanks to reduced budgets.
"At the same time - and just to make life interesting - the volume of regulatory and compliance requirements are heading in the opposite direction," he added.
The increasing consumerisation of cloud computing suggests that many firms are managing to improve their security standards, while also reducing long-term technology costs, security editor at Techworld John Dunn recently indicated.
