More firms set to boost IT recruitment drives
13/01/2012 15:50:18 (Europe/London)
The IT recruitment industry appears to be looking positive for graduates who are searching for their first job, as a growing number of employers have pledged to take on more youngsters this year.
A new survey conducted by research organisation High Fliers has suggested that despite widespread reports of doom and gloom on the jobs front, the technology sector appears to be going from strength to strength.
Indeed, the study showed the number of graduate IT roles becoming available would grow by 31.6 per cent in 2012.
This puts the IT industry way ahead of the national average, as the UK's leading employers are expecting to increase their workforce by just 6.4 per cent during the year.
Managing director at High Fliers Martin Birchall said the figures were very encouraging, especially given the increasing number of people who will graduate from university in 2012.
A report published by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation last month also indicated that firms would be willing to increase the number of experienced IT specialists they hire on a temporary basis in 2012.
