I am on the hunt for a Solutions Architect extraordinaire to join a well known leading energy provider based out of Glasgow where you will be required in the office 2 days a week, with Friday being mandatory and the other day of your choice.

If you're passionate about cloud migrations, CI/CD, containers, and have a knack for designing software solutions, we're about to become best friends.

My client are a leading energy provider powering progress currently on a cosmic cloud migration journey, and they need Solutions Architects to be their guiding star, so if you are fuelled by innovation and powered by caffeine I want to hear from you.

Role - Solutions Architect

Location - Glasgow office 2 days a week Friday mandatory

Salary - range from £55k - £66k doe

What sparks your interest ?

Cloud migrations? You've tamed that beast before, CI/CD? You've sung the continuous integration lullaby, Containerization and virtualization? You are the captain of those ships also, 3 tier architecture? Your designs are of architectural genius and should be showcased for everyone to marvel.

What you'll be up to

Leading the charge through a massive cloud migration project you will blend your software background with your wizardry of handling in house built systems, off the shelf gems and SaaS wonders, showing off 3 tier architecture whilst using your design and governance prowess with a hands off approach, you'll wield your design magic using technology and tools already in place to design and deploy your solutions.

The team you will be joining is responsible for a vast deployment of various IT technologies. Responsible for supporting legacy and on-premise estate, which is hosted in UK Data centres and currently evolving to cloud across various disciplines. We are looking for strong IT professionals who can help on the journey to ensure all solutions are designed, configured, deployed, and evolve in Solution Architecture areas such as Cloud, Data, Digital and Infrastructure.

Responsible for supporting multiple business units and diverse IT architectures for the deployment of various Technology solutions and application, becoming SME in one or more technical and business areas, trending over time towards cloud architectures. Documenting and deploying IT solutions to internal standards, supporting IT change at various stages of deployment.

Supporting the IT business in the drive to move systems to cloud based solutions and supporting one or many of Cloud, Data, Digital and Infrastructure solution domains.

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidates will have at least 80% of the following. Experience with cloud migrations, 3 tier architecture, containerisation and CI/CD being the most important.

AWS or Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud-based Architectures. Understanding of PaaS, IaaS and SaaS Architectures based composable technologies, with a strong appreciation of the future direction of connected cloud applications via API and middleware solutions, or automation

Experience of cloud adoption and migrating of legacy compute, storage and DB via re-platform, transformation and rehosting of both COTS platforms and in-house developed solutions

Deployment and design of Data & Analytics solutions at the infrastructure layers for both on-premise products such as MicroStrategy and Power BI. A strong understanding of the move to cloud for Azure based Architectures around Synapse and understanding of Data process such as ETL/ELT, staging, MDM, Data Quality & governance.

Deployment of Cloud Based applications using AKS, WebApps and Cloud based SQL DBA. Strong understanding of containerisation and configuration.

Appreciation of modern digital technologies such as IoT, RPA, AR/VR, AI, PKI

Understanding of middleware, interface and batch process / technologies

Knowledge of CICD pipelines and path to production of controlled source code using GitHub, Jenkins, maven, sonarqube et al

Strong understanding of the importance and requirements for IT security and identification of risk at various layers

It is expected that all Solution Architects understand traditional 3-Tier Architectures using classical Windows, Linux and DBA such as Oracle and MS SQL deployments. Understanding of HA and DR configurations for backup and recovery a benefit

Strong understanding of networking, routing and standard IP, DNS, DHCP, DMZ, VPN et al.

Knowledge of Microsoft Domain Architectures, antivirus, monitoring & operations and build patterns

Appreciation of physical, data centre and remote hardware configurations

Background in coding or scripting an advantage
