Key skills:

Candidates will be required to create 3D CAD drawings as well as 2D drawings

Experience of casting, machining, manufacturing processes and their limitations would be required.

Some automotive experience would be nice but is not required.

CREO experience is required

Windchill experience would be a big plus

Uses PTC Creo Parametric 7 to develop 3D Models and 2D Drawings of turbocharger components and assemblies to Cummins Turbo Technologies (CTT) standards.

Takes CTT engineering aerodynamic profiles develops turbocharger components to comply with customer space constraints (engine chassis pipework etc), other turbomachinery interfaces.

Works with an understanding of the application, product life, cost, manufacturing processes, assembly and service.

Likely to be experienced in casting design and with an understanding of varied machining processes.

Understands the basics of aerodynamic design and finite element stress analysis and able to work collaboratively with CTT functions to result in a robust design solution which complies with CTT standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision.

Translates customer technical profile and interface constraints into a practical component or assembly level model and drawing.

Integrates CTT aerodynamic designs into component design.

Applies technical knowledge to package designs into various installations.

Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.

Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

Works collaboratively and proactively with other functions (such as FE Analysis teams) to ensure a robust design outcome


Concept Design/Architecture

- Able to perform concept design/architecture at an advanced level using PTC Creo Parametric 7 Demonstrates advanced level of component design to include Casting and Finished parts

Design For Manufacturing And Assembly

- Performs design for manufacturing and assembly at an advanced level.

Applies specialist knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing ASME Y14.5.2009

- Demonstrates knowledge and application of GD&T principles at an advanced level Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (iDFMEA)

- Specialized skills in Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (iDFMEA) to logically organize complex cause-fail mode-effect relationships, appropriately identifies risk areas, identifies and prioritizes actions necessary to mitigate risk

Design Variation Analysis

- Applies DVA as needed to develop a robust design Product Data Management - Ideally exposure of Windchill

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Likely to be educated to Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering.


Intermediate level of relevant work experience required, such as responsibility for several components of a project or a complex component of a project.

Proficient in PTC Creo Parametric 7

Exposure to PTC Windchill to a working level
