Position Purpose: Provide an overview of the responsibilities of the position by providing a summary of the mostimportant aspects and duties of the position.
The Associate Director R&D Japan is the I&T Leader in the Business Partner and Application Platforms group. He/she is a strategic business partner who will report to and work with the lead I&T Business Partner to help support and drive the overall business strategy and business value results as it relates to all technology and applications.This role develops relationships, primarily working to converge functions of I&T and R&D, though is accountable for all I&T relationship management for the Japan Affiliate on site.The role works to identify ways in which I&T can support and advance objectives, in line with company, functional and I&T strategies. In conjunction with the R&D I&T Business Partner, this role will partner to shape business demand and create idea documents, business cases,and value plans; ensuring value optimization and communication; and enabling continuous improvement in all areas and people around them. In addition, clients R&D has ambitious growth targets for 2030 which will require continuous experimentation and industrialization of digital, data and scientific capabilities. This role will work to drive alignment, prioritizationand execution of innovation across R&D to enable those targets.
Finally, and as the most senior I&T resource in Japan, he/she will be accountable for high level business partnership across all domains (e.g.: Commercial, Finance, HR), triaging items to the correct I&T functional teams and when necessary, managing issues impacting the affiliate to conclusion.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: List the roles and responsibilities of the position
1.Establish and maintain positive relationships withassigned R&D partners and the broader Japan affiliate staff. Implement processes, roles, and capabilities of I&T creating value for Japan and overall R&D. Deliver consistent and effective communication as well asmanaging escalation and avoiding risk

3.Ensurebusiness value realization and optimization;develop, and maintaintechnology roadmaps, business case development, financial awareness, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities where technology can add value.
4.Collaborate across the enterprise
*Partner with peers to ensure the R&D functions in Japan leverage the bestcapabilities across the client.
*Work alongside the Project Managers and Business Analysts to ensure a healthy andwell-managed initiative portfolio.
*Coordinate with applications team(s) to ensure that business applications aremaintained, supported, and optimized for the functions use.
*Participatewith site leadership to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, anddetermine how technology fits into business capability roadmaps and priorities.
*Connect with the Function I&T Leader, coordinatingwith appropriate I&T functions toestablish matrix teams to establish solutions
5.Ensure alignment across relevant I&T standards, methodologies, and frameworks in conjunction with Enterprise Architects; demonstrating a working understanding of I&T architectural principles to business solutions.
6.Leverage and improve the I&Tpeople and sourcing strategy to ensure the strategic goals of the business are met (Business Partnering, Project Management Support, Applications Support).
7.Deliver business value through focus on framing the problem prior to development ofsolutions including digital awareness, risk assessments, business continuity, and business capability requirements. Utilize creative and innovative industry trends and digital advances as they relate to new opportunities and business needs
