Basic purpose of the job

Senior System Engineer: The position holder is responsible for the basic planning, definition, technical architecture, implementation, qualification, operation concept and hand over to the operation support functions of globally distributed, high complex systems and software of the belonging, or close related, organizational unit, including the interfaces to systems supported out of other organizational units.

The complexity of systems and software is determined by the number of modules, the regional or global distribution, the use of novel technologies, number of interfaces to other systems, the involvement of external partners and colleagues as well as the importance for the corporation and the potential corporate damage in case of outages.

This position will enable the effective and efficient delivery of global IT services in the assigned, or close related, organizational unit.

This includes project management, the ongoing maintenance, optimization, innovation, 3rd-level support, and basic technology consulting in the area of the assigned system and software responsibility.

Accountabilities:

- System and Solution Development: Responsible for basic planning, definition, technical architecture, implementation, qualification, operational concept, and hand over to the operational support units following the defined BI process framework of globally distributed, high complex systems and software of the belonging, or close related, organizational unit, including the interfaces to systems supported out of other organizational units.

- Systems and/or solutions are properly designed, compliant to BI framework, and serve the agreed functional requirements.

- System and Solution Support: Responsible to provide maintenance, optimization, innovation and 3rd level support for implemented and/or assigned solutions.

- Troubleshooting of system problems of the assigned organizational unit that have been escalated.

- Is taking over SystemLead (and/or SoftwareLead) responsibilities for globally distributed high-complex systems

- Systems and/or solutions remain stable, efficient, effective, and secure. Issues are resolved with minimal service interruption to the service user. Support is provided within agreed SLAs to meet IT process needs.

- Information and consulting: Serve as an expert for existing systems and/or solutions with technical and organizational expertise in multiple areas towards colleagues outside of the belonging organizational area. Employ comprehensive knowledge to influence and improve technology and solution decisions. With access to various information sources, new IT technologies or market offerings should be identified, that provide BI with a competitive advantage.

- Demonstrate knowledge in assigned areas through client and colleague interaction, documentation, presentation and proposals. Feedback from management, clients and colleagues.

- Project Activities: Supports team goals by participating on, or leading project teams. Deliver on assigned tasks and action items according to the project planning. Takes over Project Manager responsibilities for global projects with technical and/or organizational complexity across multiple teams and groups (e.g. global rollouts).

- Activities completed on time, within budget, in scope and to client/IT colleague satisfaction.

Regulatory and / or Organizational Requirements

Common BI regulations, regulations regarding ITIL and GxP, and solid understanding of certain role-based regulations, e.g. system lead, validation manager

Job Complexity

The position requires the professional expertise as well as the process and customer understanding for globally distributed, high complex systems and software of the belonging, or close related, organizational unit, including the interfaces to systems supported out of other organizational units.

Job Expertise

The position requires detailed specialized professional expertise in multiple areas of the prolonging organizational unit, a full understanding of related internal processes (e.g. GxP), and a basic understanding of processes and systems of close related organizational units.

Job Impact

The position influences the organizational goal achievement by taking on system and solution responsibility for globally distributed, high complex systems and software of the belonging, or close related, organizational unit, including the interfaces to systems supported out of other organizational units.

Minimum Education/Degree Requirements

- master's degree in engineering, computer science, or similar technical oriented education

- detailed professional expertise in the area of the defined position (> 5 years)

Required Capabilities (Skills, Experience, Competencies)

* At least 5 years of professional experience in an international IT environment

* Detailed expert knowledge in multiple areas of the assigned organizational unit

* Good knowledge about modern IT Infrastructure concepts

* Knowledge of the system and service processes of an IT organization (e.g. ITIL)

* Detailed knowledge about technological developments and IT market trends in the field assigned

* Self-motivated and responsible working style

* A good team player and high level of communication skills

* Good technical thinking

* Good knowledge of English in both words and writing

* Openness for international business trips
