Meet Joe Swenson
In March 2021, we welcomed our newest leader, Joe Swenson, as Senior VP of IT.
Joe got into recruiting right after graduating from the University of Missouri Columbia with a bachelor’s in business administration. He was active in his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, had been captain of his high school football team, and was generally known as a gregarious, social, and team-oriented person. His strength for relationship building and capitalizing on connections naturally drew him to look within his network for a first career. When his fraternity brother told him of the opportunity to connect with a major staffing firm at a campus career fair, Joe immediately took initiative to land the job with the director on the spot.
Starting a career in staffing and recruitment is never easy at first, but talented people always find a way to succeed in a job they love. Joe knew that the key to success was building quality relationships and learned quickly to create and maintain a new network in a new city. It paid off huge. He was often invited by clients on outings outside of work. Clients of Joe's attended his wedding, visited the hospital when his children were born, and brought him gifts of thanks for his support and leadership.
“People want to work with people that they like and enjoy being around. When people naturally like you, the relationship moves past the transactional stage.”
Once Joe got a grasp on the staffing industry, he knew he had come to the right place. His number one motivator has always been creating a legacy, for himself and for his company. Taking care of his team of internal partners, coworkers, clients, contacts, and anyone in his ecosystem professionally was the way he was raised in leadership and that translates to the way he influences people to become future leaders. Joe has helped people all over North America find success, and that is what he’s most proud of, which can’t be demonstrated on LinkedIn.
“My objective is to help my team achieve their goals & dreams while exceeding client and contractor expectations.”
Joe practices servant leadership, leading by example to set high expectations for his team through a culture of discipline, consistency, and perseverance. His goal is to help his people go beyond what they thought was possible. Allowing his team members to feel safe, confident, and supported helps them work in their own best interest, which creates followership to develop future leaders.
“Tough love and always demanding the best brings out the best in people and will take a company where it needs to go.”
First thing on Joe’s agenda? Building on an amazing culture of integrity and excellence, while balancing a “true culture of discipline and high performance.” Joe intends to lead the charge in maintaining and improving upon a world class experience for clients, contractors, and internal partners.
“Whatever we set out to achieve, whatever KPIs we agree to, we will exceed our goals to create a lasting legacy for Computer Futures.”
Joe has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, for 21 years. She works as a Senior Accountant for the City of Allen, Texas. Their son, Andrew (20), is a sophomore at UCLA studying neuroscience. Their daughter, Grace (16) is a sophomore in high school. Joe is a member of the Dallas Economic Development Council, the Dallas Diversity Council, and the Knights of Columbus.
