The International Data Corporation and its latest Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker has earned authority on the subject of data, analytics, trends, and expertise pertaining to the tech industry. They have named Salesforce as the number one CRM provider in 2022. This is the ninth consecutive year that Salesforce has earned that ranking.

In the last few years, the CRM (customer relationship manager) market has positively exploded due to the pandemic, shifting working models, and the call for accelerated digital transformation across the globe. Salesforce grew its overall market share position and increased revenue growth during this time especially.


Thriving Through the Pandemic

Through all the shifts in business needs and spikes in employment through the tech industry, Salesforce talent remained in high demand. As the world adapted to an increasingly digital and remote environment, companies were required to pivot to newer and more collaborative business models.

According to the IDC Salesforce Economy, U.S. companies surveyed accelerated their organization's cloud solutions because of the pandemic.

Ways the pandemic accelerated cloud deployments:

  • 47% drove a need for more cloud-based solutions to stay competitive
  • 42% drove more cloud-based development and operations
  • 42% required easier response to processes to customer needs than on-premises solutions
  • 42% enabled a more omni-directional approach to customers
  • 37% prompted new solutions quickly to market and customer disruption

The data from the IDC Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker shows that Salesforce holds 23.8% of the Revenue Market Share Worldwide. It is the leader in the segments of sales applications, customer service applications, marketing applications, model-driven application platforms, and enterprise community applications.

Salesforce was also ranked the #1 market share leader for CRM in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America, and Western Europe.
