Computer Futures' consultants can respond to recruitment requests extremely quickly and efficiently as this case study with a leading software and systems house demonstrates.

The Challenge

Our Munich-based client supplies software solutions to the banking and finance sector and typically employs their own candidate acquisition methods to mange all recruitment activity.

After recruiting a permanent IT specialist in 2008, Computer Futures has always maintained close relations with the company’s hiring managers, even though we were not required to support their recruitment activity. The strength of this relationship came to the fore in 2009 when the client underestimated the headcount required to manage a project and came to Computer Futures looking for us to find two Java Developers fast.

We received the call at 11am on Monday morning and the request was for JAVA Developers to start the following Friday. Exposure to the banking and finance sector and proven ability to work under pressure was required for both roles.

On the contract side we have vast experience in supplying IT professionals in as little as 24 hours, but on the permanent side this is an extremely challenging assignment.

Our Approach

Supported by a team of resourcers, a Java recruitment specialist immediately began to liaise with their active and passive networks to create a highly targeted long list. This activity included:

  • working their extensive network of JAVA Developers to check the availability of those with whom they had a strong and long relationship, and whose skills and expertise matched the needs of the client;
  • expanding their referral network to significantly widen the pool of prospects;
  • employing social media and online networks to engage with the Java community;
  • delivering highly targeted email campaigns to attract specialists active in the job market

The Results

Our consultant worked solidly until 10.30pm on these positions and this potent combination returned six exceptional developers who were actively seeking work and based in the Munich area. The consultant stressed the urgency of the assignment and interviews were arranged for the following day, during which time references were taken and testing was applied to the shortlist.

Of the two candidates invited for interview both were offered positions before accepting.

Following the assignment the client appointed us as the sole supplier for all permanent and contract recruitment. Since then we have since placed a further seven contractors, several of which have had their contracts extended.
